PUTRAJAYA: The government aims to better connect Malaysia’s funding ecosystem to help local companies progress from seed capital to venture capital, private equity and eventually initial public offerings (IPOs).
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said Malaysia already had sufficient domestic capital, but companies needed better access to the right funding and support at each stage of their growth.
“If we look at it, our approach is that there are already many opportunities in this country. But sometimes, the problem is that we do not connect these opportunities with the support provided across the different segments.
“We have not been able to connect the assistance that we provide well enough. So, the concept we have is to ensure that these activities can be connected better,” he said at a Government-Linked Enterprises Activation and Reform Programme (GEAR-uP) briefing.
