KUALA LUMPUR: Marine transportation company Orkim Bhd has received delivery of its latest vessel, Orkim Garnet, bringing its fleet size to 19, and increasing its total load capacity to 253,036 deadweight tonnes (dwt).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the group said Orkim Garnet, formerly known as Rich Sunda, is a 2026-built International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Type II tanker with a deadweight capacity of 13,850 tonnes (mt).
“Designed to transport both clean petroleum products (CPP) and chemical products, Orkim Garnet is scheduled to commence its maiden charter voyage in the near term,” the filing said.
Orkim chief executive officer Captain Cheah Sin Bi said Orkim Garnet enables the group to expand into chemical and palm oil transportation, allowing them to capture broader regional trade opportunities.
